Art from Worship

Yesterday I went to the International House of Prayer to soak in the excellent worship experience they have available. They have a prayer room in which worship takes place 24 hours a day and has been going nonstop since Sept. 19, 1999. The worship leader changes every 2 hours, and I just happened to go [...]

Art Every Day #14 - Swimming

I am swimming through my day.
This morning my back was so sore. I was terribly crampy and so mad at Eve. Why, if she hadn’t messed up the way she did, I wouldn’t feel this way. Then I had to chuckle at myself. I learned alot from her, especially how to lay blame. She and [...]

Art Every Day #13 - Bun Head

I always wanted to be a dancer. My body was made for other things, things that require thick, short legs.

Art Every Day #12 - Doodle & Lyrics

This is a doodle that I started yesterday in church. Today I was exhausted, so adding to it was all I could muster. There are two separate song lyrics going on. One is quite obvious, the old hymn, Fairest Lord Jesus. It is such a flowing song, I was surprised at all the exclamation points [...]

Art Every Day #11 - Here Am I, Send Me.

I’ve had an idea for this page for over a year now. It feels good to finally get it out. After I started working on the page, I reread the text it is based on. Mental note, always refresh my memory before beginning. I had forgotten that seraphims are male and have 6 wings.
Isaiah 6:1-8 In [...]

Art Every Day #6 - Tracing the Lines

Today I am beginning to feel a bit achy and tired. Although I have ideas for an exciting page, I don’t have the energy to do it. Therefore I tore a face from a magazine and traced the lines. I’m hoping that someday the lines in a face will just flow from my fingers. Until [...]

Art Every Day #3 - My Muse

Meet my muse. She is a sassy little girl with her very first pigtails (which is why she is smiling so big today). She is always bursting with joy at the tiniest of things, celebrating. She’s a dear friend who always brings a smile. I like to hold her hand and skip.

It Won’t Stop…

my mind, that is. It’s as if God took His stir stick and stirred my mind as fast as He could. It just keeps swirling and very little is settling back down to the bottom.
Do you know how many colors there are in a pasture on the High Plains this time of year?
Can I do [...]

self portrait

We are on the road right now. I’ve been able to have fun in my art journal while my husband drives.
This is my self portrait. The words read:
I’ll grow into it. Just when I think it fits, I change. I’ve never stopped growing. Guess I never will.
The dress represents art. I’m just trying it on, [...]

Just in case you’re wondering…

I was unexpectedly detained from normal blogging this weekend. While I can’t share with you the details without violating the privacy of another, I do ask that if you are the praying sort, please pray. God will know what about. And praise the Lord, my immediate family is well.
My blogging will be limited over the next [...]

Art Journal Assignment #2

Well, I found out I don’t have a picture of me when I was five. I’ll either have to do a self portrait, or leave a space until I can get one from my mom.
Aren’t these videos fun? I especially appreciate them as I learn by watching. Books and magazines have helped me so much, [...]

New Art Teacher

My daughter and I have a new art teacher. Meet Suzi Blu:

Our new teacher has several assignments with more to come for creating an art journal. We are going to enjoy trying out her assignments and exploring new techniques.
We’ll post our pages as we go, and the next assignment from Suzi Blu.
