Art Every Day #6 - Tracing the Lines

Today I am beginning to feel a bit achy and tired. Although I have ideas for an exciting page, I don’t have the energy to do it. Therefore I tore a face from a magazine and traced the lines. I’m hoping that someday the lines in a face will just flow from my fingers. Until then I trace or paste faces. This is my first time trying this exercise. I was amazed at how fluid the lines felt. We really are quite curvy.

My friend, Sheri, at Blended Colors always has so many great treaures of inspiration that she shares. She had recommended Wide Open: Inspiration & Techniques for Art Journaling on the Edge by Randi Feuerhelm-Watts.

Inspiration & Techniques for Art Journaling on the Edge (Book & Card Kit)

Since I have loved all her other recommendations, I decided to check this out. Wide Open is in a unique format of cards & a creativity notebook. Each card is like a story, suggestion, technique, inspiration all rolled into one. Since I have never taken any art classes, there are really many simple basic steps that I’m sure I’m missing. I’ve loved the suggestions given on these cards, one of which was to paint on a face from a magazine as an exercise, painting light to dark. I don’t even have the energy for that tonight, so I just outlined. It was still worthwhile. Althougth still tuckered out, I’m glad to have done something creative today.
